There are places on Earth that do not want us there, and Antarctica is one of them. The wind does not welcome you, the ice does not soften for you, and beneath it all, something waits.
Today, we’re incredibly excited to share ORIGAME DIGITAL’s brand new story trailer for Penguin Colony, alongside the game’s first public demo, available now on Steam ahead of Steam Next Fest. The new trailer offers a deeper glimpse into the conflict at the heart of the game, the rival factions entering the Antarctic, and the ancient presence calling to them from below.
Penguin Colony is a slow-burning horror story set in 1939 about obsession, colonialism, madness, and the terrible arrogance of believing the unknown exists to be conquered.
Two rival groups push deep into Antarctica after the awakening of something ancient beneath the ice. A contingent of Nazis arrives seeking proof of supremacy, convinced they will uncover evidence of humanity’s origins and destiny buried in the frozen south. The Kaitiaki come as protectors, carrying a responsibility passed down through generations: ensure the thing beneath the ice never fully wakes again.
You experience this all through the dark, curious eyes of a penguin.
As you explore Antarctica, you will follow the trails these expeditions leave behind. Strange equipment abandoned in the snow, impossible structures emerging beneath the ice, fragments of narration from minds already beginning to unravel.
The penguins barely notice the humans wandering across their frozen home. They register as strange, curious creatures passing through the snow for a fleeting moment before disappearing again. They do not need to understand the humans' fears, ambitions, dreams, or nightmares.
The thing beneath the ice watches humanity in exactly the same way.
