WELCOME TO THE STORY-RICH SHOWCASE

The Story-Rich Showcase is a brand-new video showcase dedicated entirely to story-rich indie games and taking place within the Summer Game Fest period (5-7 June, 2026).

An initiative of indie label Fellow Traveller (Citizen Sleeper, 1000xRESIST, LudoNarraCon), the Story-Rich Showcase seeks to give narrative-driven titles the time, care, and visibility they so often miss during one of the busiest moments in the games calendar.

The event will spotlight a lineup of 20-25 games, all chosen on a purely editorial basis with no paid or sponsored slots. It will feature developer-led segments that highlight the people behind the work, their ideas, and creative journeys.

Fans and media can expect exclusive announcements, first looks, new trailers, release dates, updates, and a few surprises, all tailored for audiences who care deeply about storytelling in games.

Submissions are open from now until 10am Pacific on February 28th, 2026.

MASTER_FELLOW_TRAVELLER+LOGO_BULLCROSS_MASTER.jpg

Fellow Traveller is an indie games label on a mission to support the developers and artists pushing at the boundaries of storytelling in games and to travel with them on their journey into uncharted territory, helping bring their creations into the world and connecting them with players looking for something different.

We’ve been at this since 2011 and you may know us from tabletop-inspired RPG set in the ruins of interplanetary capitalism (Citizen Sleeper), the Peabody Award-Winning exploration of generational trauma (1000xRESIST), the polar survival story riddled with life or death decisions (The Pale Beyond), the noir adventure set before, during, and after the Big Bang (Genesis Noir), the murder mystery with a cast of otherworldly suspects (Paradise Killer) or many other amazing games that we’ve had the privilege to support over the years.

Beyond games funding, publishing and promotion, we have run an annual digital festival celebrating narrative games on Steam since 2019 (LudoNarraCon), and in 2026 we announced a brand new project to shine a light on story-rich indie games - the Story-Rich Showcase.

Join us on a journey into a world of surprising games and unusual stories.

FAQS

  • Final timing is TBD but it will run during the Summer Game Fest period (June 5th-7th, 2026)

  • More information on how to watch will be announced closer to the date of the broadcast but at a minimum you can expect to see it livestreamed on the Fellow Traveller YouTube and Twitch channels and the VOD to be available on our YouTube channel.

  • Story-Rich games center story, storytelling, or deeper narrative design.

For us, it’s not just about having a story but about the importance of story within the overall design and intention.

We’re particularly interested in games that seek to expand or deepen the way games tell stories or the types of stories being told.

A good guide to the kind of game we’re looking to platform through the showcase would be to look at the titles that have been selected for the Official Selection at LudoNarraCon.

  • The Story-Rich Showcase is a project created and organised by indie games label Fellow Traveller as part of its mission to further video games as a storytelling medium.

  • At Fellow Traveller we are dedicated to storytelling in video games.

We are privileged to partner with many creative developers working on innovative and compelling story-rich games but we are a small label and can only publish a handful of games each year.

That’s why we have sought to find ways to support the wider indie narrative game development community alongside our work as a label. For example, since 2019 we have organised LudoNarraCon, an annual digital festival for story-rich games.

Video showcases, particularly during the Summer Game Fest period, have become an increasingly significant part of the indie game discovery landscape but it can be challenging for narrative-focused games to stand out within the existing showcases.

We have created the Story-Rich Showcase to provide a dedicated showcase designed to suit story-rich games and to give fans of this style of games a showcase that is all killer, no filler. Through this we hope to shine a spotlight on both the games in the showcase and also the wider story-rich category of indie games in the same way that Wholesome Direct has helped to raise the profile of cozy games.

  • There is no charge to apply for the showcase and no charges to participate if you are selected.

There are also no paid or sponsored slots and all selections will be made on an editorial basis.

Your only costs will be those involved in creating your video for the show.

  • The submissions form will close at 10am Pacific time on February 28th, 2026

  • We expect to be able to let applicants know if they have been successful or not by the end of March 2026.

  • Successful applicants will need to provide a video to our specifications as well as press assets and information.

The exact requirements for the video will depend on what kind of slot you have been offered.

The three primary formats will be:

    • A 2-3 minute segment of developers talking to camera cut with gameplay footage

    • A 60-90 second trailer

    • 30 seconds to 1 minute of b-roll and some talking points for inclusion in a montage

  • You can broadly expect to need to provide your video asset and other material by the end of April/first week of May

The exact deadline will be communicated as part of the acceptance notifications.

  • We’re definitely excited to have exclusive reveals but our goal first and foremost is to support story-rich games, not hold them back.

We won’t include exactly the same content as other shows but we have purposefully designed our show with multiple formats to enable games to appear in multiple shows and provide something different in the Story-Rich Showcase.

If you are invited to appear in the Story-Rich Showcase and have also been accepted into other shows in the Summer Game Fest period then we can have a chat about how to make this work.

  • Yes, there will be an event page for participating games on Steam.

We expect this will be live from a few days before the showcase but any unannounced games will be added to the page as they are revealed.

  • The Story-Rich Showcase is not currently an official summer Game Fest 2026 event.

We will certainly be requesting to be included under that umbrella but the official list is usually announced closer to the event.

  • If you have any questions you can contact us on contact@storyrich.games
